DAY 12 | Pray for Our Youth and Children

Minister Kristina Jenkins

WORD OF FAITH | SOUTHFIELD, MI

Hi. I am Kristina Jenkins and welcome to day 12 of 30 days of prayer. Today I am going to encourage you to pray for our children and our youth. In the world that we live in today, there really is an assault on the hearts and the minds of our children and on the next generation. But God has made us a promise – really to Israel - in Isaiah 54:13 but as we are born again, we have been engrafted in and we are part of that family.

The promise in Isaiah 54:13 says, “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” So there is a promise for those of us who are born again. It may not be your children but may be your niece or nephew. It may be your grandchildren or great-grandchildren. But as we teach them the things of God, the Word of God promises us that their peace will be great.

Not only that, but elsewhere in Scripture tells us that the righteous man’s children and the righteous woman’s children are blessed. So we are going to pray in accordance to that today and specifically, I want to encourage you to also pray some of these following things - like we said that our children shall be taught of the Lord and grace shall be their peace - that our children are favored by God.

The Word of God says that favor encompasses and surrounds the righteous as a shield. So they are shielded because they are the righteousness of God and even if right now they are under your covering and through your relationship with God, that our children are 10 times smarter than their peers in the world.

I love this story in the Old Testament. It talks about the Hebrew boys and even though they chose a different diet than what was offered to them because they were honoring God - even though they weren’t necessarily eating the same way and eating of the riches of the king’s house that God blessed them and that they did well and they excelled more than their peers. But the most important thing that I want to encourage you to pray today is pray for our children and our youth to have an experience with God themselves.

The most important thing that any of us can do is to know Him for ourselves. My mother-in-law, who is now in heaven, used to say this all the time, “God doesn’t have grandchildren. He only has children.” So we want them to have an experience with Almighty God. That’s something you can pray for them. Show yourself strong to them. Reveal yourself to them because if they experience God for themselves, they will have a testimony and no one can ever take that away from them. It will point them forever in the direction that God has called them to go in.

So I want to encourage you today. Let’s go ahead and go before the Lord in prayer. Let’s lift up the children and the youth of this generation, especially the children of our own household of faith, in Jesus’ name.

Minister Kristina, thank you so much for such an awesome share. Praying for our children/grandchildren FOR THEMSELVES to know God is super key. It is so easy to think that we are teaching them about the Lord, but without adding our prayers for them to make the teaching a teaching in their own heart, we are missing a vital piece to the puzzle for growing Godly children. Thanks for speaking to that part.
