Minister Jasmin Haynes
KEITH BUTLER MINISTRIES | CORK, IRELAND
Greetings. I am Minister Jasmin Haynes and it is an absolute privilege to speak with you today about praying for the volunteers in our churches. First Corinthians 12:27 says, “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”
Today we are going to talk about helps. We see here that God has set helps in the church right along with the apostles, prophets and teachers. That word ‘set’ in the Greek beans place, fixed, or established. It is God who establishes volunteers in the church. It is God who calls us to serve the church that He has called us to. If we back up to verse 18, we see that, “God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.” From this we can glean that we don’t set ourselves. God does. And we are in place, specifically, to please Him.
We all have a job to do in the body of Christ. So let us make sure that we are in position. Jesus was the best example of someone in position who served. In Mark 10:45 Jesus said that He didn’t come to be served, but to serve. If Jesus, a King of kings, and the Lord of lords, our Savior and High Priest, served despite the fact that He was the greatest apostle, prophets, evangelist, pastor and teacher that we have ever seen - certainly we have no excuse for not serving.
We can also see this in the life of Paul. Paul served in the church at Jerusalem until the Holy Ghost set him apart in Acts 13. Likewise we should all be serving in church, regardless of our ministry call. Our church should have no shortage of volunteers in any area as we all follow the example that Jesus set.
So today, we want to pray that 100% of our members are serving in the church areas that God has called them to and that there is absolutely no lack in any of our volunteer departments. We want to pray that our volunteers are enriched in all things and receive a hundredfold return on the seed that they are sowing through their service.
Let us pray that our volunteers operate in humility and are in one accord as they support the vision that God has given the leader of our local church body. Let us pray, in full faith and expectation, for God to move mightily in the lives of each and every volunteer in our church, in Jesus’ name. God bless you all.
