DAY 21 | Pray For Our Senior Citizens

Pastor Reginald Walker

SENIOR PASTOR | WORD OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTER | VICKSBURG, MS

Greetings everyone and welcome to day 21 of our 30 days of prayer. I am Reginald Walker, Senior Pastor of Word of Faith Christian Center, Vicksburg, Mississippi and my assignment for this year’s campaign is - being now 65 myself - is to pray for us seniors. The B part of second Corinthians 4:16 in the Amplified translation reads, “though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.” Yes, our flesh is perishing and growing older may bring some aches and pains, but your spirit man can be renewed daily. Let’s pray that every senior recognizes that regardless of their lot, if you are still breathing God has a purpose for you. Seek Him for it. Psalm 71:18 from the Amplified reads, “Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, [but keep me alive] until I have declared Your mighty strength to [this] generation, and Your might and power to all that are to come.” It has been said that experience is the best teacher. I disagree. Other people’s experiences is the best teacher and sharing your experiences can help the younger generation avoid a lot of mistakes. Wisdom is something that can’t be bought but it can be shared. Share your wisdom. Isaiah 46:4, still coming from the Amplified, says, “Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.” In other words, no matter your age, God’s got you. For those of us who are still fit, this is no time to quit. We are in the fourth quarter. Abraham was 75 when God called him out of Haran. Moses was 80 when he led the Israelites out of Egypt and Caleb was 85 when he told Joshua to give his mount saying, “I am as strong today as the day Moses sent me.” Growing older is a blessing and it is a privilege that everyone does not have the opportunity to experience and because God has afforded me that opportunity, I am not looking to retire. I am looking to re-fire. We are now in the final 10 days of this campaign and my encouragement to you is to finish strong. And my prayer for my fellow seniors is that we do the same.
