FIRST LADY | WORD OF FAITH | SOUTHFIELD, MI
Welcome Word of Faith family to 30 days of prayer. Today I am here to talk to you about marriage and children - praying for your marriage and your children. One of the important things that we need to understand when we get ready to pray for our marriage and our family is we have to understand what God’s will is for our marriage because if you don’t understand what God’s will is for your family, you will end up praying against your family - praying for what you don’t like and you don’t know that maybe that is what God has intended for you.
So you have to take the time to research the Word of God to find out what God’s plan is for marriage. And it is unfortunate that I have to say this for people that have been married for years. But everybody - just because you are Christian, doesn’t mean that you are living the way God wants you to live.
So my encouragement is for you to get a prayer journal or a book of prayers where they list prayers for the family and they list the Scriptures so that you can go to her or him with what the authors are talking about for that month. I would start out my prayer by saying, “Thank you for my family. Thank you for my spouse, my children, my blended family. Thank you very much for them. I ask that You help me be the woman or the man that You require me to be in this instance for my family – that I am able to do the things that You have called me to do. Help me to understand what Your Bible – what Your Word says about marriage – what Your Words is about family - how to put things in order - how to prioritize everything.” If you ask Him to help you, He will. That’s why we have the Holy Spirit so He could lead us and guide us in the way that we want to go. We like to quote Psalm about, “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.” But is He really your Shepherd?
Whenever you pray, you have to make sure that you are allowing Him to be your Shepherd in the matter. If you are not allowing Him to be your Shepherd, it is empty words. So I encourage you to get into the Word of God and find out how you can meet what you want to meet as far as your marriage and as far as your family is concerned.
