Pastor Mario Bennett
SENIOR PASTOR | FAITH4LIFE | ROUND ROCK, TX
Hello. Welcome to day three of 30 days of prayer. My name is Pastor Mario Bennett from Faith4Life, Round Rock, Texas. Before we start today, I want to challenge you to invite three people to join us on this prayer 30 campaign. You might say, “Who would I ask?” This is a great segue into our topic for today which is playing for our family and our friends.
Now, the Word of God tells us over in Ephesians chapter 6, verse 1 that we have spiritual family and we have natural family where it says this, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;”
The next thing I want to talk about is our friends. The Word of God shares with us in Proverbs chapter 81, verse 24 - it says, “there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Do you know it is possible for someone to be a friend with you that you feel closer to than actually a blood relative? Yes that is true.
So how should we pray for our loved ones? One, we should pray that they are born again and that they know truth. It tells us over in first Timothy chapter 2, verse 4 that God wills that all men be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth. Also we should pray that they know their purpose. Jeremiah, chapter 1, verse 5 says this, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee..” In other words, God sends everyone into the earth with a purpose.
We should also pray that they have wisdom and understanding, as it tells us in Proverbs chapter 4, verse 7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” God desires that we are not deceived. We should pray that they be in health and prosper or increase. It says in third John chapter 1, verse 2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Today we need to pray for protection. Psalm 91 is a chapter of protection but I want to draw your attention to verse 11 where it says, “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
Now there is one more thing as we begin to pray. It talks about in Mark chapter 11, verse 25 - it says this, “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” So let’s meditate on the Scriptures and let us pray for our families. In Jesus’ name, let us pray.
