DAY 8 | Pray For Our Senior Citizens

PASTOR DEBORAH BUTLER

FIRST LADY | WORD OF FAITH | SOUTHFIELD, MI

Hello. Welcome back to 30 days of prayer. Today I want to talk to about praying for our senior citizens. That’s me. I’m a senior citizen. I’m going to tell you how to pray for me. The Bible tells us,“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in a way of righteousness” (Proverbs 16:31).The word hoary means aged. So the aged head is a crown of glory, if it be found in a way of righteousness. So the Bible tells us that,“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”God is telling us that even when you get old, He will treat you the same way that He treated you when you were young. You know, the older you get—if you stay in the way of righteousness—the more wise you get. So what I need you to pray for us, for senior citizens, is that we continue to walk in the righteousness of God in Christ. The wisdom of God is available to us at any level and that we are able to share that wisdom with those of you who are younger. So I need you to continue to pray for us that our eyes are continually enlightened to what God says and to the wisdom of God and to the things of God and that we continue to grow to be who God has called us to be so that we can operate and be successful in this life. Now, I thought it was very interesting the way the Bible says as we get older, we can kind of get set in our ways. We just get bold about what we do, whether it is right or wrong. And that’s why I need you to continue to pray that we continue to walk in the ways of righteousness and we agree and speak victory all the time, regardless of what is going on in our lives, because as you age, things happen. We want to make sure that we agree with God and not agree with what our bodies are saying or circumstances are saying, and that we live a full life—a successful life—and continue to live in the way God wants us to live and be a blessing to all those around us, especially to our children and our grandchildren and even to great-grandchildren.

That’s what God wants us to do. He wants us to be a blessing—always be a blessing—speaking words of blessing. So you can help out by praying that and speaking over us that we don’t allow people to take advantage of us because we are senior citizens because that is one of the things the world does. And we will not agree with that and we will speak victory—that we will have what God says we have. Our age doesn’t matter. We can still have what God says, in Jesus’ name. And I know that if you agree with us on that and you speak the Word and you pray that over those around you today, and those who are in your lives, those words will become truer and truer, and we will be able to walk forth and do what God called us to do, in Jesus’ name. God bless you. Have a good day.
